Spröjs Series / Visiondivision

Just in time for the warm weather, Visiondivison has shared a great collection of summer houses with us. Entitled the Spröjs Series, the residences stem from an organizing modular system present in their built project Spröjs House (previously featured on AD). And, in this collection, in typical Visiondivision fashion, the firm has exploited the potential of the module and crafted residences ranging from a simple shed and cabin to a crazy castle.

The 15m2 Spröjs Shed is envisioned as an extension alternative for a Swedish summerhouse. The shed’s simple lines make it an unobtrusive element, yet its flexible interior can support a variety of functions suitable for summer living, such as a guest house, or perhaps a sauna with relaxing possibilities. Similar to the Spröjs House, the shed’s mullions act as storage and cooking elements, workplaces and even seats.

The next of the series, the 40m2 Spröjs Cabin, is a small house that includes a kitchen, a living room, a medium sized bathroom and an extra room plus a sleeping loft. Similar to the shed, the flexible design includes multi-use built-ins, such as the long mullion/shelf system along the main façade. The extra space gained from the lofted level can be used to fit four beds or, with only half the loft uses, the living room can enjoy double height space.

The Spröjs Villa is a modern style summer house for people with high architectonical taste. The modular system allows the building to grow from a size of just 30m2 to a villa of 200 m2. The modular facades transform into beds, kitchen tables, sofas, even trellises and sun shading. As the villa will also serve as a summer retreat, the slim design affords that the occupants will never be more than two meters from the outside. Plus, the house’s open facades creates a space that is always in close contact with the natural environment.

Building upon the villa, the Spröjs Mansion includes all “good-life functions a person with assets and taste could beg for.” Such luxuries include a double garage connected to a wine cellar with an under water pool view. The spacious living quarters enjoy double ceiling heights, two master bedrooms with connection to the pool via a trampoline and private balconies, and a glass roof which is perfect for gazing at the sky. Two towers penetrate the building; one is a chimney and the other one has a small view point where late drinks can be enjoyed. And, the house contains several moving components, such as ladders and diving-boards on the façade to connect the different levels of the house.

For the last in the series, Visiondivision has created the Spröjs Castle, the residence of choice for an opulent lifestyle. This fanciful scheme is comprised of different modular towers that can be arranged depending upon façade preference, entry and orientation preference and a shear size preference. While the smaller towers are designed for the wait staff, as the scale of the towers increases, so does the comfort and the specific installations. “A central, large elevator will slowly ascend through the different levels that are filled with awe; a shark aquarium for example, a statue collection, a private concert or maybe an exquisite library filled with rare and exclusive content…Collect great things from all over the world, regardless of the size, have them flown over to one of your many helicopter pads. This is not just any home; this is a majestic mark that will outshine every private house on the market, you will simply know that you’re on top of the world and your lineage is forever secured, because once you own a Spröjs Castle, nothing else matters,” explained the firm.

Ranging from the 15m2 to the city scale, Visiondivision’s summer creations demonstrate the flexibility of their modular systems and highlight their witty and creative imaginations. While the castle model may be still a work in progress, the Spröjs Shed, Cabin and Villa are for sale in Scandinavia through the firm’s summer house manufacturer Sommarnöjen.
