This custom residential renovation lies on a hillside outcropping at the perimeter of the Silver lake reservoirs. The knoll-like cross section of the property organizes a series of terraced interior levels which cascade across the topography of the site. The street side facade is defined by a series of interlocking plaster and wood volumes which visually protect the interior from the public way.
Rising along the exterior garden path to the entrance portico one experiences glimpses of the surrounding landscape. As one enters the main level this experience explodes into a commanding view of the reservoirs layered by the San Gabriel Mountains in the background. The house is organized around three 1/2 levels which interlock in a central stairwell. The uppermost level is devoted to the master suite and study defined by custom built-in cabinetry which functions to segregate these spaces.
Along with a guest room, the entrance level contains an open kitchen and dining area which is connected to a terraced wood deck via a series of large sliding doors. Stepping down once again, the lower level Living Room also opens onto the outdoor deck and landscape, connecting the occupants to the stunning landscape beyond.
